Cube-PowerBook Hybrid A Bad Idea?
posted by molet on Friday December 22, @04:01PM

Low End Mac Daniel Jansen writes "Dan & Anne at Low End Mac have an interesting piece arguing that Apple shouldn't release a portable version of the Cube. I thought a CubeBook was a no brainer, but they make the point that if Apple can't find a niche for the Cube, how in the world will they find one for a CubeBook. I wonder if Steve Jobs is thinking that different?"

Let me first say that a portable that fits in between the iBook and PowerBook is no more guaranteed to ship then that Quad G4 wristwatch MacOSRumors keeps talking about. With that said, I think that this so called hybrid would have more market potential then the cube ever did, namely in those who want the many features of a PowerBook in a much smaller package. Look at the success of the Sony Viao portable line. Few people expect a portable to be as expandable their desktop.
